Djupavik is a former fishing station and a fish processing centre at the end of the Reykjafjordur Bay. A Herring pickling factory was established there in 1917, but was declared bankrupt in 1920. It was restarted in 1934 and continued operating until 1954.
Hotel Djupavik is open the whole year round.
