The Icelandic Touring Association (ITA) Nordurfjordur hut is called Valgeirsstadir. It is a restored farmhouse in good condition, just above a beach at the end of the bay. It has two storeys and is electrically heated. The upper floor comprises four rooms for 4-6 guests, and the ground floor four rooms for 6 guests each, a well equipped kitchen and a dining room. The kitchen has an electric stove with an oven, a microwave, all utensils, and running hot and cold water.
There are two WC and a shower. A small supermarket is only a 10 minutes’ walking distance away and an outdoor swimming pool at Krossnes.
Interesting, short hikes take you through majestic landscapes to the top of Mts Tafla, Kalfatindar, Munadarnesfjall and Krossnesfjall. A longer hike takes you to the Ingolfsfjordur Bay around Mt Strutur. A stroll along the coastline takes you to attractions like Trollahladi, Bergid and the Gvendur Seat, where bishop Gudmundur the good sat when he was consecrating the dangerous Urdir screes.
