About Skeidaaveitan

The greatest achievement of “Skeidamenn” was the irrigation “Skeidaaveitan”. It improved the performance of farmers through increased crop and smoother meadows. The irrigation was a great milestone in the development of the area but it started operation in 1923. It taught farmers to work together. Another milestone in the history of the Farmers Association was when the company bought the first horse-plow in 1927 and hired a man to go with it through the region and work with farmers.
