An average volume, two rod river on the boundary of the prolific Borgarfiord region. It is quite long but divided by an hydroelectric power station. The Andakilsa is a very slow moving river with long and deep pools.
As a result, it has one of the highest average fly catches in the country. Some times up to 70-80% of the catch is taken on the fly. This river produces 170 to 270 salmons in a season with quite a few sea char thrown in. The lower region of the river is a trout and char section where most of the catch is sea char. The distance from the capital is 75 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 15 km from the town Borgarnes.
