Lake Selvatn or Silungatjorn is just outside the capital. Its area is 0,37 km² and the deepest point is 40 m below the surface, which lies 131 m above mean sea level. Its discharge is Gudduos, which is the beginning of the Ellidaar river.
The best approach to the lake is on route 431 and also from the abandoned farm Ellidakot. Both lake char and an occasional brown trout can be caught there and also a special small species of char.
The distance from the capital is about 20 km.
