This is a rather small volume river fished with two rods. It has some breathtaking scenery. A typical season will see some 150 to 250 salmon entered into the log. Usually the average weight of Laxa salmon is one of the highest in Iceland.
The Laxa has two faces, a stretch were the river ploughs through a narrow gorge and above the gorge the river is more relaxed and some good fly fishing can be practiced on slow moving pools. A fish ladder is situated at the top of the gorge. There is a small, well equipped self catering lodge at the anglers disposal.
