Svalbardseyri is a fishing hamlet on the eastern shoreline of the Eyjafjordur Bay. The trading of the oldest cooperative society of the country (1882) started there in 1885.
This hamlet boasts of the best harbour conditions on the eastern shore of thView Poste bay. Norwegian businessmen built and operated a herring-processing plant there at the turn of the 19th century. Services to travellers are rendered in the community.
Svalbard Parish is the southwesternmost of the Thingey District.
