Lake Haukadalsvatn has an area of 3,28 km², reaches the depth of 41 m and is situated 37 m above sea level. The fishing permits are only valid within a stretch of 1 km of the lake’s shoreline.
The lake abounds in lake char (1-2 pounders) and sometimes the odd salmon is caught. According to the legend a herd of sea grey cattle lives in the lake and the farmer at Stora-Vatnshorn caught one of the cows. Nowadays people say that the Grey cattle of the area is its descendants.
