Farm Geldingaholt is in the Seyla County in the Skagafjordur District.
It was a church site until 1768, when the parish was united with the Glaumbaer parish. The Sturlunga Saga mentions a bloody battle there in 1255 during the power struggle between the alliances of the chieftains of the country, which lead to the loss of independence in 1262.
Two gentlemen, Rev. Gunnlaugur Oddsson (1765-1835), and Brynleifur Tobiasson (1890-1958), who were acknowledged for their writing and publishing, were born and brought up at the farm.
