The Kirkjuhvammur camping site in Hvammstangi is situated only 6 kilometers from highway nr 1, midway between Reykjavik and Akureyri. The site is located in a sheltered dell just outside the town, with a fully equipped service station and good facilities for campers and trailers. Hvammstangi is the largest town in the area of Húnaþing vestra. It offers a top class swimming pool, shops, restaurant, museums, galleries and other services. Hvammstangi is only a short distance from Vatnsnes peninsula which has many various historical sites, beautiful scenery, and great views of the mountains at Strandir and last but not least a seal habitat within easy walking distance from Vatnsnes peninsula.
