This farm is on the northern shore of the Hof’s Cove in the Helgafell County.
The first settler, Thorolfur Mostraskegg Ornolfsson, lived there and had a temple for his favourite god, Thor, built nearby. He named the farm after the temple (Hof) and the peninsula Thor’s Peninsula after the god. He is also believed to have founded the first parliament of the country, which probably was held regularly every summer on Jonsnes, a spit of land further west on the cove.
There are no visible signs on the surface to confirm the existence of the temple or the parliament. Thorolfur was a strong believer in the thunder-god and he also believed, that he and his relatives would lead their afterlives in the Holy Mountain (Helgafell).
