A two rod river producing 200 to 350 salmons in during the season. It has a pretty good average weight along with a very comfortable lodge, albeit self catered. The Angling Club of Reykjavik manages this river along with an angling club in Akranes and it is extremely difficult to obtain permits as the river is very popular.
Anglers fishing the Faskrud have the option of staying longer in the lodge than their salmon fishing days to investigate some prolific trout lakes on the moors close by. The lakes abound in lake char and, to a lesser extent, brown trout and the average weight is said to be close to 2 pounds.
Faskrud is about 205 km from Reykjavik and 10 north of the hamlet Budardalur.
