This is a mixed spring fed and run off river, a tributary to the glacial river Lagarfljot.
Their confluence is near the town Egilsstadir. The catch consists of both brown trout and Arctic char and later in summer also sea trout. It is among the most beautiful rivers of the country, crystal clear pools and rapids and it runs through forested areas.
The distance from the capital is about 710 km.
