HOSKULDSVATN

Region: North Iceland
Coordinates: 65.95° N 17.2167° W

Lake Hoskuldsvatn has an area of 1,26 km². It is very shallow and situated 262 m above sea level on the moor Reykjaheidi, just south of the town Husavik on the north coast.

During dry spells the road is passable by all cars. The catch is lake char. Occasionally lake char fries have been released into the lake. The lake was named after the first settler of the area, Hoskuldur, who drowned in it.

The distance from the capital is about 490 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and 10 from Husavik.
