Hofdi is one of the most impressive areas around Lake Myvatn. It forms a peninsula into the lake with panoramic view of the whole Lake Myvatn area. Its original name is “Buck Point”, derived from the name of its proprietor in the early 20th century.
He and his wife planted thousands of trees and other plants there during their summer holidays for decades on end. After the husband passed away the widow donated this property to the county and since then it is open to the public to enjoy.
Entrance fee during summer.
