LAXA in ADALDALUR VALLEY

Region: North Iceland
Coordinates: 65.653° N 17.1961° W

This is probably the most interesting Trout and salmon river of the country. The anglers have to be well protected against the very annoying black flies.

The river is not only renowned for its salmon and brown trout stocks below the hydro electric power stations, but also for the large brown trout above it all the way to its discharge from lake Myvatn. Its surroundings are uniquely beautiful and the anglers can watch the harlequin ducks, Barrow’s goldeneyes, the red necked phalaropes, widgeons and other species all around them.

The distance from the capital is about 480 km.
