This river spills into the bay Vatnsfiord in the Northwest. It is the very short but voluminous discharge of lake Vatnsdalsvatn a short distance from the ferry point Brianslaekur. The summer catch varies between a few salmons to 150. During the period, when large stocks of reared salmon wandered about in the ocean around the country a few years ago, the catch was at its peak. A great number of these fishes entered the river to spawn, but nowadays very few do. Only one rod is permitted per day and the anglers have occasionally caught quite a lot of sea char.
