Both lakes are in the Skaga Parish. Lake Mulavatn has an area of 0,25 km² and lake Geitakarlsvatn is somewhat larger. Lake Mulavatn’s discharge, Mulalaekur, spills into the sea and two km farther east lake Geitakarlsvatn’s discharge, Geitakarlsa, meanders through the landscape. The main road crosses both rivers a short distance from the lakes.
The catch consists of lake char and brown trout, but Lake Mulavatn is not prolific. These lakes are not netted, but netting them might increase the number of larger fishes.
The distance from the capital is 302 km by the Whale Bay tunnel and about 35 from Skagastrond.
