These rivers used to be pretty good salmon rivers. That was then, this is now. A local salmon farming company used to release fries there, but some years ago it went bankrupt and since then only a small native stock has run the rivers.
The season’s catch is perhaps 50-100 salmons these days, but the salmon is complemented with huge runs of sea char. The river system has a fine self-catering lodge and is fished with four daily rods. The distance from Reykjavik are about 170 km.
