Farm Klaustursel in the Jokuldalur Valley is a large property, formerly used as summer pastures for the sheep of farm Skriduklaustur in the Fljotsdalur Valley.
The oldest passable bridge across the glacial river Jokulsa a Dal was built there in 1908. Originally it was a railway bridge in USA, but was shipped to village Vopnafjordur and transported from there on horses to the building site, where it was riveted together.
The detour to Klaustursel is quite worth while to enjoy the gallery and handicraft centre and take a look at the reindeers nearby.
