These lakes are situated on the boundaries between the Districts Eyjafjord and Skagafjord. They have an area of 2,3 km².
They are rather shallow and lie 800 m above sea level. Just east of them is a part of one of the ancient routes across the central highlands, Eyfirdinga Route. The lakes are only accessible by jeeps.
The distance from the capital over the Kjalvegur route (jeeps) is about 260 km.
