Lake Medalfellsvatn is located close to the Whale Bay (Hvalfiord). Its discharge is Bugda, which enters Laxa, one of the best salmon rivers of the country. Consequently quite a few salmons are caught in the lake every summer along with the brown trout and lake char.
The total area of the lake is 2 km² and its averages 2-5 m, the greatest depth being 18 m. The shoreline of the lake is 6 km long. The surface of the lake lies 46 m above sea level. There are a few holiday houses in the beautiful and peaceful surroundings.
