The Akureyri Touring Association (ATA) Mountain hut Laugafell hut was built in 1948-1950. It is located south of the end of valley Eyjafjardardalur and about 15 kilometres NE of glacier Hofsjokull. It is heated with thermal water from the hotsprings in the area. It contains all necessary utensils and a stove. A warden attends the hut during summer. It accommodates 15 people +5 in the attic of the WC and shower house.
Outside is a swimming pool and a camping site.
Tracks and trails lie in different directions from the hut, i.e to Eyjafjordur, Skagafjordur, Bardardalur valley, and to the Sprengisandur Route.
