This church belongs to the Valthjofsstadur benefice in the Mula deanery. It was built in 1949 by the farmer himself to commemorate his late wife. He decorated the church and painted the altarpiece. Modrudalur was a parsonage in the past until the farm was temporarily abandoned in 1716.
