"The Peter's Island" as this freestanding, 275 m high, mountain is called in English, stands just east of the outwash plain Solheimasandur. It is well vegetated and shows signs of a higher sea level in earlier times.

During the trouble some "Sturlunga Period" in the 13th century an army of 200 men prepared its defence on its top. Just south of the mountain is a cone shaped mound, an old crater plug. Many legends of elves are connected with the mountain and the mound.
