The present horticultural and greenhouse town Hveragerdi started developing in 1902, when a carding factory was built at the waterfall Reykjafoss.
The number of hiking trails in Hveragerdi Hotspring area is much greater than covered by this website. The shorter and more local ones are left out for the most part. Tourist information centres at Hveragerdi offer brochures covering the local areas in much more detail.
