SWIMMING IN ICELAND

Swimming is the most popular sporting activity in Iceland, if we measure it with number of participates. There are over 120 swimming pools all around Iceland, most of them outdoors. Icelanders have to learned to swim from young age and most of them consider it a part of daily or at least weekly routine to visit the swimming pool. So it has become part of their lifestyle, no matter what age. The water is from geothermal hot springs and swimming is thought to be the least expensive activity for tourists around the country. To start the day with a visit to the swimming pool gives everyone enough energy to face the Icelandic nature or to use the hot whirlpools to relax after a good traveling day is only the best.
