Lake Sigridarstadavatn is a shallow
and a narrow lake. It is 6 km long and its discharge empties into a small lagoon called
Sigridarstadaos. The lake itself is an old seawater lagoon and is the westernmost of
three such in the area.
The farm, after
which the lake is named, has been abandoned for some time and the lake and the farmland belongs
to the estate Thingeyrar. The catch consists of lake char, 1-2 pounders. A good road lies
along the western side of the lake and quite a few harbour seals bask down by the estuary.
The distance from the capital is about 227 km by the Whale Bay tunnel. |
